Car Shopping

After our first outing with Anna, we realized that a bigger car would be in our future.  The car seat fits in the back and the stroller fits in the trunk, but that is about it.  It is hard to fit groceries in the trunk and it is really hard to fit suitcases in the trunk.  So, we started car shopping.

It did not go as planned.

After lots of research, and after visiting many, many car dealerships, we decided on the following three cars:  the Ford Escape, Honda CRV, or the Acura RDX.  We were looking for a used car, with less than 50,000 miles, small enough to fit in our garage, and if it had navigation - bonus.

So we set off to Carmax first because they had a nice RDX and CRV, but they were just too much money and they did not offer enough for our car, so we headed home.

Then, we went to a local Ford dealership because they had a nice Escape, but when we got there we could not look at the car.  It needed maintenance and the mechanic had the keys, so we could not even look inside of the car.  We did end up driving another Escape but did not want to buy our Escape without looking at the inside.  So, we headed home, or at least tried to...  In the beginning of our meeting with the salesman, he looked over our car to get us an estimate and left the car on (but not running) the entire time!  So, our battery was dead when we tried to leave the dealership.  After a jump, we were on our way.

The next day, we headed over to a local Honda dealership because they had a CRV.  I called before we went to verify they had the car on the lot.  I also set up an appointment so we could get in to see it right away.  So, we arrived at the dealership only to find out no one knew of our appointment and the car was actually at their Richmond, VA location!  So, we left yet another dealership without a car.

We decided that it is just not meant to be.  So, we took the money we had saved to put towards the car and bought....
