I am by myself this week since Kyle has his first work trip out of town since Anna was born. I do not know why I am making such a big deal about this week, but I have been nervous about it ever since I found out he would be heading back out on the road so soon.
Well, we survived Day 1.
It started out a bit shaky. I was supposed to take Kyle to the airport at 5 o'clock this morning, but the weather was too iffy for me to feel comfortable driving. Last night I got about 14 emails and calls from work saying that we had a delayed start this morning due to expected freezing rain. So, Kyle had to get a cab to the airport (sorry, Kyle!).
The day looked up after that since Anna decided to sleep 8 hours last night! We put her to bed about 10pm and she woke up around 6:30 this morning. Even though I was up when Kyle left this morning, it was nice to get right back to sleep until 6.
We then managed to get out of the house (the weather improved enough for me to drive, I am not sure we ever got the freezing rain) and went to a local, free (!) new mothers' group. I was really nervous about attending because I had no idea what to expect, but it turned out to be really nice. There were about 10 moms and babies there and a nurse to answer any questions. Basically, someone asks a question and we all talk about it over crying babies, dirty diapers, and breastfeeding. It was nice to meet new people.
We also walked the dog. I had to take Anna in the stroller, since it was chilly and rainy out. Riley is not very good at walking with the stroller, so we did not last long, but at least the dog got out.
All in all, it was a successful day, and Anna and I survived!
Of course you survived and it will get easier every day. xoxoxox
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are surviving. Miss you both.
