Kyle and I honored our service men and women by toasting them in Las Vegas over Memorial Day weekend. ...and by relaxing by the pool and site seeing and getting massages.
Las Vegas is always one of those destinations that seems like such a fantastic idea that just never turns out so fantastic. When I am booking the trip all I can think about is the pool, the great food, fun shows, and possibility of winning thousands! When I get there I usually run into an overcrowded pool, overpriced food, and no winnings, mostly because I am scared to bet more than $20.00 on the nickle slot machines. And then there are the drunk people - the girl being wheeled out of the club in a wheel chair holding a plastic bag. (I hate drunk people. Do not get me wrong, I can appreciate a good margharita, but I get very nervous in a crowd of drunk people and I think it has everything to do with my fear of puke.) However, somehow, after I get back from Vegas, I only remember the good parts, and when someone suggests another trip to Sin City, I am all in!
It really was a fabulous weekend overall. We decided to stay off the strip at the Red Rock Hotel and Casino (check out the bathtub in the room - with a tv!). We took full advantage of our hotel spa and Kyle had his very first massage (and I think it is also still his favorite). We also went to Hoover Dam and caught the Love show at the Mirage. Love is AMAZING and Hoover Dam is always worth the drive. Plus, Kyle can provide some additional (not at all nerdy) free commentary about how power stations work.
Thank you Memorial Day!
