Ithaca, NY

Sometimes I just need a weekend away and that is exactly what I did this past weekend.  We decided to drive up to Ithaca, New York to visit my aunt and my mom who was also visiting.  It was the perfect weekend.  Anna slept in (6 am!!), we ate great food, and spent quality time with family.

Here is why Ithaca is the perfect place for a weekend away:

Walking
The trails.   We walked a few miles each evening and it was wonderful.  I love walking.  I love the conversation, the sights, the fresh air, and Anna is really loving her backpack these days.

Ithaca Farmers Market
The farmers market.  We went early, so it was not crowded yet.  I love that this farmers market seems to have more bakery shops than anything else.  We ate our way through each shop.

Ithaca Beer
The brewery.  The last time I visited Ithaca Beer Company, it was a small store front with an even smaller bar.  Now, it is a full blown brewery, bar, and restaurant.   It was super crowded too, but that could be because one of the local colleges was having graduation that weekend.

The celebrities?  We ran into David Boreanaz who was in Ithaca to speak at graduation.

Family
And most importantly, family.

Girls Weekend in Ithaca, New York

A couple of weekends ago my sister and I took a road trip to Ithaca, NY to visit family and ended up having a great girls weekend (minus the flat tire situation on the way home).  Here is what we did:

Enjoyed the views from my Aunt's new house.

Checked out the local historical sites.

Wished my Aunt's kayak was big enough for all of us to enjoy the water.

Went to the farmers market and bought their entire supply of sweets.

Relaxed on the front porch.

Ventured out into the pond with Kenzie.

Ate at the local bakery.

I had a great weekend full of food, fun, and a bit of redecorating.  I do not get to hang out with my family enough.

Here are the girls... my sister, Erin, my mom, Pam, and her sister/my aunt, Sue.

Four generations of girls:  my Nana/mom's mom, me (with baby), and my mom.
